Freda Matassa - Art Collections Management
Freda Matassa is a freelance collections manager and registrar for public and private collections offering cataloguing, exhibition organisation, loans and inventory skills as well as advice on acquisitions, transport, storage and legal. Freda also provides practical consultancy advice and training to museums on policy, procedures and standards.
Former Head of Collections Management at Tate, Freda has extensive experience of all aspects of managing cultural collections.
Freda Matassa is museums representative on the UK UNESCO Cultural Network, is Expert Advisor to the Minister of Culture on Immunity from Seizure Applications and is UK Expert Adviser to the EU Collections Mobility project and Commission for European Standardisation. She lectures and writes widely on the issues around lending and borrowing cultural goods, especially in the fields of indemnity and immunity from seizure.
Freda was one of the authors of Lending to Europe and is currently writing a book on Collections Management.
