“Collections Trust’s services are practical and relevant - because we have contact with so many people who look after collections we know what’s needed and how to deliver it.”

Cultural Property Advice

With the international market for cultural artefacts, fine art and antiquities growing ever more active, it has never been more important for cultural heritage organisations to understand their responsibilities in managing cultural property.

The Cultural Property Advice service has been jointly funded by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA) and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS).

The Collections Trust's predecessor body MDA was responsible for the creation of the Cultural Property Advice service in partnership with international marketing and international relations consultancy Hopkins van Mil. It covers important areas of practice including:

  • Buying with confidence;
  • Crisis management;
  • Handling media enquiries.
