Europeana

Europeana is bringing together digital cultural content from all over Europe, and make it easily accessible for users via the Internet.

The Collections Trust is responsible for coordinating the UK's contribution to Europeana, and is leading a series of work packages in various projects which will enable libraries, archives and museums in the UK to participate.

One of the ways we will be contributing to Europeana will be through the Peoples Network Discover service. At the moment this contains records from:

Europeana v1.0

Europeana v1.0 is turning the prototype of europena into a operational service. Collections Trust is providing input into:

  • Work package 3 - Further Specification of Functionality and Interoperability aspects of Europeana.

EuropeanaLocal

EuropeanaLocal website

EuropeanaLocal is a project whose aim is to enable smaller and local organisations to get their content into Europeana. This will be done by setting up sensible levels of aggregation where they do not already exist. The Collections Trust is one of the lead partners in the project, and will work particularly in:

  • Work package 2: Metadata survey and content analysis;
  • Work package 3: Aggregation of content.

ATHENA

ATHENA website

ATHENA is a project to develop a common framework of standards and policies for the creation, delivery, preservation and sharing of digital content. The Collections Trust is a work package leader for:

  • Work package 3: Identifying standards and developing recommendations.
