Heather Lomas
MDA Trainer
I have worked in the cultural sector for 18 years and have been running my own business as a heritage and museums consultant for the last 12 years.
I work with organisations across the sector and provide consultancy in the areas of:
- Strategy and policy development;
- Training development and delivery;
- Collections development;
- Project management;
- Museum development;
- Audience development;
- Consultation and evaluation;
- Event management.
As an experienced MDA trainer, I specialise in documentation and deliver courses throughout the UK. Working with organisations ranging from national museums to small volunteer run organisations, I have experience of many of the common, and some not so common, documentation issues. This means I am well placed to help participants arrive at solutions to their particular documentation problems. Training is delivered in a relaxed and informal style to enable full participation from all delegates. Recent comments include:
I found the day very interesting and informative. Thanks for the info - very helpful.
I thought it was a really useful training day and you did an excellent job of fielding some fairly awkward questions.
Thank you very much for all your help and for your enjoyable training.
The training day was really useful for me, and straight away I will put my newly acquired skills to the test when discussing the backlog of one of my museums next week. I couldn't have done it without you!
I also work with individual organisations providing bespoke consultancy for museum documentation projects. I like to work with clients to problem solve documentation issues, and incorporate MDA training, in a package targeted at a museum's identified needs.
Acting as a consultant to MDA, I also regularly contribute to the development of training courses and to content on Collections Link: www.collectionslink.org.uk
