MDA Appoints Training Officer

MDA, the UK's leading provider of documentation training, is delighted announce the appointment of Sue Thornton to the newly-created post of Training Officer.

Sue will take up her post in January, and will be responsible for the co-ordination, development and evaluation of the full range of MDA's training services. She will work closely with national and regional bodies to identify training opportunities and develop new training products in response to the sector-wide demand for quality-assured, affordable courses.

With a strong background in assessing continuing professional development in the cultural heritage sector, Sue is ideally placed to meet the needs of professionals and volunteers within MDA's rapidly expanding training services.

Alex Dawson, MDA Head of Programmes commented, 'I would like to congratulate Sue on her appointment and welcome her to our team. I look forward to working with her to ensure that MDA continues to provide advice, support and training of the highest quality to thousands of museum and heritage practitioners every year.'

Sue's appointment has been welcomed by workforce development staff across the sector. Philip Kiberd, Content Co-ordination Officer at MLA West Midlands commented, 'We welcome this new appointment which will benefit the sector nationally by increasing MDA's capacity to meet the training demands of staff in museums, libraries and archives.'

All of MDA's courses have been developed in partnership with practising professionals and are delivered by a network of approved trainers. This means that they are specifically tailored to the realities practitioners face in their everyday work, and have an emphasis on practical solutions.

MDA hosts an annual training programme across the UK, and in addition trainers can be booked to provide training sessions for your organisation. For more information, please visit www.mda.org.uk/training.htm.
