Brief Description

Vernon is a sophisticated and comprehensive collection management system used by hundreds of museum professionals.

Vernon provides efficient collection management tools including: cataloguing and location control, procedural administration of activities, automated reporting, a flexible query writer, multimedia support and easy to use public access.

Minimum Hardware

Client:

  • processor: Pentium III

File Server:

  • processor: Pentium III or 4 (or AMD Equivalent)
  • memory: 512 Mb RAM
  • disk size: SCSI

For indicative disk sizing we suggest allowing approximately 5k per object plus space for images.

Images

Images are stored in a specialist Photo AV file. Photo AV records may be linked to other records throughout the system including objects, people, sites and documents. Object records may have multiple images attached and in turn one image may be attached to multiple object records (or other types of record that may have images attached).

Public Access

Vernon Browser offers highly configurable sophisticated web access to selected collection data. Vernon HTML Export is also available.

Data Conversion - £700 per day - most data conversions take 5-10 days and are given as a fixed price quote after a review of the existing data.

Training

Onsite training is tailored to suit requirements at a cost of £900 per day including expenses. Training is priced per day regardless of the number attending, although class sizes are usually limited to ensure attendees receive individual attention. For larger installations it is often possible to minimize costs by purchasing training for the System Supervisor(s) for the site, who can then in turn train other users.

Minimum training for an initial installation is 2 days. Further days may be required depending on the modules purchased and complexity of use.

Support

Ninety days maintenance is included for free with the licence fee. Annual Support (including software upgrades) is calculated at 20% of the current licence cost. A support contract is optional after the first year.

A current Support Agreement offers unlimited support via email, fax or phone; upgrades; remote issue resolution via internet (if available); annual user group meetings; electronic user forum; quarterly newsletters
